Privacy Policy

Summary
- Everything you save stays in your browser, on your own device. We never receive it.
- We don't collect personal information. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or trackers, and no server your data could be sent to.
- The extension reads a web page only when you save it, and only the tab you're on.
- We don't sell or share information, and there are no affiliate links.
- You can see, change, back up or delete everything yourself from inside the extension.
Who we are
Window Shopping is a browser extension made by Leo Forman, based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Leo Forman, and "the extension" means Window Shopping. You can contact us at windowshoppinginbox@gmail.com.
What the extension stores
Everything the extension keeps is stored in your browser's storage for the extension, on the device you're using. It isn't synced to your other devices or uploaded anywhere. This is what it stores:

The extension never asks for your name, email address, location, contacts, payment details or passwords, and it doesn't keep your browsing history.
When the extension reads a web page
The extension can't see the pages you visit. It has no permission to read websites in the background, and none of its code runs on a page by itself.
It reads a page only when you click the Window Shopping icon or press its keyboard shortcut (Alt+S, unless you've changed it), and it reads only the tab you're on. At that moment it reads:
- the page's address and title
- product information the store puts in the page for search engines and link previews
- the main heading, the pictures on the page with their size and position, and prices shown on the page with their size and position, so it can tell the product apart from banners and recommendations
- on Shein pages, the product details Shein includes in the page's code
It doesn't read what you type into forms, your passwords, messages, cookies or other tabs, and it stops once the save is done. What it finds is stored as described above and isn't sent anywhere.
If you save with the right-click menu, the extension doesn't read the page at all. It keeps only the address of the page, link or picture you clicked, the tab's title when you save a whole page, and any text you had selected.
What leaves your device
The extension has no server. It doesn't send anything to us, or to any analytics, advertising or tracking service.
It makes one kind of network request. When you save something, it downloads the product picture from the address the store's page uses, which is usually the store's own image server, so it can keep a copy. That request is made without your cookies, and the image server sees it the same way it sees the page loading its own pictures.
These pages are built into the extension, so opening them from the extension doesn't make a network request either. Any social media links on the About page are ordinary links. Nothing loads from those sites unless you click one.
What we collect
We don't collect anything. We never receive, see or have access to what you save, the pages you save from, or how you use the extension. We couldn't look up your data if someone asked us to, because we don't have it.
The only information we ever receive is what you send us yourself, as described under If you contact us.
Selling, sharing and advertising
We don't sell, rent, share or trade personal information, and we don't use it for advertising, profiling or automated decisions. The extension shows no ads and has no affiliate links, so we earn nothing when you buy something you saved.
For California residents: we don't "sell" or "share" personal information as the California Consumer Privacy Act defines those terms.
Copies you choose to make
A few features make a copy of your data outside the extension. They only run when you use them, and the copy goes only where you put it.
- Save as a picture creates an image of a board, or of one item, in your Downloads folder. The image uses your background, so if your background is a photo, the photo is in the image too.
- Share, in an item's menu, opens your device's share options if your browser has them, with the item's name and link. Only those two things go to the app you pick. If your browser has no share options, the link is copied to your clipboard instead.
- Copy link puts one item's link on your clipboard.
- Back everything up creates a file with all your saves, boards and their pictures. The file isn't encrypted, so anyone who opens it can see what's inside. Keep it somewhere safe.
- Restore from a backup reads a backup file that you choose.
- Copy all the links puts your saved links on your clipboard.
- Copy a report, which appears after you save something, puts the page address and the product details the extension found on your clipboard, so you can send them to us if a save went wrong. Nothing is sent unless you paste it into a message yourself.
What happens to those copies after that is up to you.
Permissions the extension asks for
When you install the extension, Chrome lists the permissions it uses. This is what each one is for:

The extension doesn't ask for permission to read or change data on all websites, see your browsing history, access your downloads or use your location.
Cookies and tracking
The extension doesn't use cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting or analytics of any kind.
Children and teenagers
Window Shopping is meant to be safe for people of any age, including teenagers. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, so it doesn't collect any from children.
- We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from anyone else.
- There's no account, sign-up, age check or public profile, and no way to share things with other people inside the extension.
- The extension has no ads, no prompts to buy, no location features and no way to contact strangers.
- Everything is private from the start, and there's no setting that makes it less private.
If you're a parent or carer: everything your child saves is kept in the browser on their device. You can see it by opening My finds from the extension's icon. You can remove all of it with Customize, then Delete everything, or by removing the extension from Chrome. If you have a question, get in touch.
Your rights
Privacy laws, including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Australian Privacy Principles and the California Consumer Privacy Act, give you rights over personal information about you. These include the right to see it, correct it, delete it, get a copy of it and object to how it's used.
Your data stays on your device, so you can do all of this yourself, straight away:
- To see it, open My finds. Everything the extension has stored is shown there.
- To correct it, open any item and change its details. Your changes always take priority over what was found on the page.
- To delete it, remove items one at a time, use Customize, then Delete everything, or remove the extension from Chrome, which deletes everything it stored.
- To get a copy, use Share, then Back everything up. You'll get one file with all your saves that you can keep or move.
We don't hold any information about you, so there's nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. You're still welcome to contact us about any of these rights, and we'll reply.
Security
Your browser and your device protect your data. Anyone who can use your browser profile can open the extension and see your saves, so keeping your device secure keeps them secure too. The extension doesn't add its own encryption, and backup files are ordinary, unencrypted files.
How long data is kept
Until you delete it. Items stay until you remove them, and everything goes if you use Delete everything or remove the extension. Backup files and pictures you downloaded stay wherever you saved them until you delete them.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
Window Shopping's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. User data isn't sold to third parties, isn't used or transferred for purposes unrelated to saving and organising products, and isn't used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Other companies
When you visit a store's website, that store's own privacy policy applies. Window Shopping isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any store. Store names are trademarks of their owners and appear in the extension only to show where an item came from.
Google provides Chrome and the Chrome Web Store, which install and update the extension under Google's own terms and privacy policy.
International transfers
The extension doesn't send your data anywhere, so it makes no international transfers. If you email us, your message passes through your email provider and ours, which may store it in other countries.
If you contact us
When you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach or paste in, such as a report. We use it only to reply to you and, if you sent a report, to fix the problem. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your message with anyone, and we delete it once we no longer need it to help you.
Changes to this policy
If we change the extension in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and describe the change in the extension's update notes on the Chrome Web Store. We don't have your contact details, so we can't tell you about a change directly.
